My 96 Sunfire has no red cap, it has a regular dipstick. You'll want to find a small funnel. The fluid goes where the dipstick is supposed to be. I would also go to the parts store and get a new dipstick.
there is not one
7 quarts
in the trunk or under your back seat
The transmission dipstick on a 1994 Pontiac Sunfire is located on the left side of the engine. It connects to the transmission via a long tube which also allows for adding transmission fluid.
I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire, and at the time I could not find the transmission. The manual said to add four quarts, and I did.How will I know if the transmission is circulating.
Pontiac does not make a transmission dipstick, unless the newer ones have them. Actually, the early models did. My '96 had one. Later models did not. The trans fluid is checked via a plug in the side of the trans-axle.
Some early model Sunfires have a dipstick. In my '96, the dipstick is located near the firewall, down and inboard from the brake fluid reservoir.
I would doubt that you can find an aftermarket dipstick. I'd scour the junkyards. You might find one through a dealership, but they'll want an arm and a leg for it.
I am assuming you are talking about an auto trans. If so it may not have one. Look at the top of the trans there may be a red cap.
The transmission dipstick is located about 1.5-2ft from the fender on the drivers side, about at the back of the engine, in front of the windsheild/firewall.. it's sometimes yellow, or black. it's also pointing upwards at an angle
There's no dipstick on a Sunfire that new. You need to add fluid at the transaxle itself. There's a plug in the side of the transaxle that needs to be removed to check or fill the fluid.
There probably isn't one. My '96 had one, but Pontiac discontinued them shortly after the model was introduced. If there is one, it will be back near the firewall, down from the brake master cylinder.
