It all depends on whether the cat is off it's food but will drink water, which would suggest that it either has a hard-to-shift furball, or if it won't touch any sort of sustenance at all, then it is probably something more serious & the animal should be taken to a vet. If the cat is lethargic more than usual, displays unusual hiding tactics, i.e. shies away from it's habitual spots, drinks copious amounts of water & pees alot it could be suffering from kidney disease/failure (which was the case with one of mine), especially if it is an older feline. It is quite prevalent in cats of advanced years & there is very little that can be done other than to either pay to prolong its pain or accept that it would be better to give it a pain-free release.
Neither option is particularly nice, but bear in mind the interest of the animal.
Hope this is of some help.

How long it takes a cat to throw up after eating grass can vary quite a bit, depending on things such as how much grass the cat ate and what else was in its stomach. In general, a cat will throw up anywhere from almost immediately to 5 or 10 minutes after eating grass, though that don't always throw up at all.
You can keep the puppy from eating the cat food by putting the cat's food dish at a higher level. Cat have a natural tendency to jump up to higher levels to eat prey, so this will not disturb your cat at all. You can also feed the cat in a separate room from the puppy, such as the bathroom with the door closed, and return in 10 minutes to let the cat out and collect the dish.
If your cat is not eating, give him some really smelly cat food--the smellier the better. Warm it up a little before you give it to him. If you take him to your local vet, the vet may have some insight into why your cat is not eating.
It's not hungry!
