The type of computer who connect to a network depends on what the computer will do.
Most of the time, the computer who connects to a network (LAN, WAN, internet,...) will be called a 'client' (like a customer). This computer asks information on the network and another computer, called the 'server', will give (or serve) the client the information he needs.
If you set up your computer to give information to the people who need your information, your computer will be called a server.
In short: Your computer would be called a client (if you ask information) or a server (if you give information).
A networked computer. In casual technical language, a networked computer is sometimes also called a client or a node, but neither term is necessarily correct: a node is a single device participating in networked communications. A single computer can implement zero, one or more nodes, but a networked computerimplements at least one node.
A client is part of a node which also is currently engaged in a client-server relationship. A node can implement zero, one or more clients (and zero, one or more servers) at the same time.
The computer network that connects computers across the globe is called the internet.
a Subnet

A camera that can connect to a computer or to any network (including the Internet) is called a webcam (short for web camera).

Once you connect a computer to a network this is known as a host.
