in large networks you can store configs or web content in these filestores, they are like synchnonized folders that are kept on domain controllers. if a large company has an internal intranet site , you deal with the traffic hitting the web server(causing dedicated and high availabilty) or you distribute to local webservers from a local copy of the config and content. Plus the Domain controllers do all the copying automatically. Dont use tho , better to use DFS-R in 2003 or 2008 Bri MCT
