I bought my fish tank on the Sunday and then got home added the water and the aquarium conditioner and left over night so ruffle about 12-15hours and then bought the Goldfish the next day and gradually added water to the bag the fish come in every 5-10mins so they get used to your tank/pond water. the man in the fish shop said to me i should have waited to leave the water in the tank to settle for 4-5days before adding fish but mine are ok so as long as you have made sure you have filters running and have cleaned the tank and added your conditioner to the water, your goldfish should be fine:) don't feed to much, i do mine every other day, but like i would give them couple of pellets now and again they like that

Make sure the tank is clean and the water in the tank was filtered and cycled before you place any fish in the tank first. This includes applying hard water treatments to get rid of any harmful chemicles in the tap water. You should cycle the tank for approxiately 38 hours to allow the good bacteria to form in the water. Make sure to test the PH level and the temperature is set to what is comfortable for gold fish. They are hearty fish, so anywhere between 64-70 degrees is fine. To acclimate or allow the fish to get used to the water you must first empty half of the water from the bag with the fish and then pour some of the water from the tank into the bag. Tie the bag back up with a little air at the top and allow it to get used to the temperature of the water for at least 10-15 minutes, 30 minutes if you want to be safe, then you can let the fish go into the tank. You can pour it into the tank is the safest method, or you can use a fish net and set them free. Allow them to get free on their own, don't touch them or aggravate them for they might get stuck in the net, that is why it is best to pour them in gently.

If your tank is large enough to have another goldfish, then you can add a new goldfish when you're ready. As long as your tank is established and cycled, you can start considering a new fish.

The best process would be to have a quarantine tank for a new fish to make sure that they do not have any bacterial or parasitic infections that could pass to the fish you already have, so you would give the new fish a treatment for 2 to 4 weeks before adding them to the main tank, but this is not always an option for everyone.

Just be prepared for the possibility of having to treat your main tank for something unexpected when a quarantine is not an option.

Well if the tank is all set up and running and has proper water-quality perimeters than you can put the goldfish into the tank as soon as it is accustomed to the water. The easiest and least stressful way to get the goldfish accustomed to the aquarium's water is to open the bag in which the goldfish is in and pour the water and goldfish into a 1 gallon bowl or 1 gallon container. Every fifteen minutes add about a cup or two of aquarium water to the container. Do not add too much water at once or you will stress the fish. After the fish is exposed to about 25% petstore water and 75% aquarium water you can then scoop the fish out using a net and release it into your tank.

Why would goldfish fight with each other?

If you have recently added a new goldfish to a bowl, it is possible that the original tenants will see the new fish as an intruder. I had 3 goldfish and they actually taunted the new fish I added to the tank, keeping him at the other end of the tank. Eventually, they ate him. No joke.

Is there a special tank for baby goldfish?

No actually. When I got my baby goldfish, he was fine in a large glass tank with a filter, a bunch of colorful rocks, and a bunch of decorations. Just don't put he/she in a tank with goldfish that are older, bigger, or goldfish that ur new baby goldfish just doesn't know because, believe it or not, goldfish can be aggressive. They can also be very territorial. I hoped I helped alot. Ur Welcome. :)

How do you acclimatise your goldfish?

If you want to acclimate your goldfish into a new tank, do it slowly so the goldfish don't get stressed.set up your goldfish tank or pond in advance.Let the water cycle and establish beneficial bacteria that will help regulate the nitrogen cycle and help deal with the ammonia produced by a goldfish.Add a dechlorinator that will eliminate chlorine and chloramine. If you fill your tank with tap water, it will have one or both of these in the water. Don't bother buying fancy dechlorinators, just buy one that eliminates both.Float the bag filled with air and the goldfish into your aquarium water.Let the bag float for 30min until the water temperature inside the bag matches the water in the aquarium. Goldfish can die if there are rapid changes in water temperatures.Open the bag, let the water mix and slowly let the goldfish swim into its new home.Depending on the size of your tank, don't add more than a few goldfish at a time or your tanks ammonia levels might spike and kill all the goldfish in your tank. A cycled tank will help keep this from happening.

How do you set up a 3 gallon goldfish tank?

You cant. Goldfish need much bigger tanks. 20-30 gallons. I bought 2 goldfish when I was new to aquarium hobby and put them in a 5 Gallon tank. The first one died in just one and a half day. The other one died just hours after the first one :( So if I were you, I would get a bigger tank.

You have a fantail goldfish and it has been alone in a tank for 6 weeks you added another fantail today and the new one is attacking the old one Is this normal?

The only time I know of when goldfish become territorial and attack other fish is when they are overcrowded and are struggling for life itself. Is your tank big enough for 2 goldfish? The basic rule/calculation for keeping fish is "1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water". A goldfish commonly grows to 10 inches or more so the minimum sized tank you NEED for 2 goldfish is a (Nominal) 25 gallon tank in order to have an (Actual) 20 gallons of water.

My fantail Goldfish has been alone in good size tank now for one year I put a common Goldfish into the tank just yesterday and the fantail seems to be 'bullying' the common Goldfish What is happening?

The fantail goldfish is asserting it's dominance over the common goldfish. The fantail goldfish has already established in its mind that the whole tank is its territory and will fight any other fish that try to change that. This is normal when adding new fish to an established tank and they will usually continue to fight for a couple more days. During this time make sure to give the fish plenty of food to eat and some place for the common goldfish to hide. If they do not stop fighting after several days than I would recommend moving the common goldfish to its own separate tank of at least 20 gallons. Another reason (though not as likely) is that the common goldfish is a female and the fantail is a male. A male may chase a females rear- this is normal but if he harrasses her- remove her immediately.
