Make note of the position of the spark plug wires then remove them from the cap. Using a flat blade screw driver push down on the 2 small screws and turn them 1/2 turn counterclockwise. This will release the cap and allow you to lift it up and out.

It is cheaper to carry "fix-a-flat", rather than a spare.... Could help? Check your tire pressure, make sure they are where they should be.... Get a K&N air filter, use fix a flat instead of a spare, and check your tire pressures for starts?
