I have a "Pioneer Model 26 Gamble Stores Incorporated" bolt action 22 rifle. It belonged to my father. He's 87 now - he bought it new when he was 12 in Deadwood, South Dakota. Hope that gives you some timeline. Mine is now 65 years old.
Pioneer Gambles Store Model 27A .22 caliber rifflePioneer was the brand name used by Gambles Store for the rifles made for them by Savage/ Springfield/ Stevens. These are known as "Hardware" guns, from the period when many hardware stores, Western Auto, etc sold guns. The Model 27A may be the Savage/Stevens Model 87 (before 1948, model 087). There is no major collectors interest in them, but they are good utility grade hunting rifles. The extremely slender stock and wrist make them very nice first rifles for young people. They have been out of production for some time now, limited parts may be available from gunpartscorp.com, value $50-75, depending on condition. I have 2 of the Gambles Store rifles- the grandkids love them.
I believe your rifle was made for Western Auto Stores under their Revelation brand, but is a Savage 110 (possibly 110E) The store branded rifles generally sell for a little less than the maker branded rifles, but are still very good rifles. Depending on condition, value may be $250-$350. The Model 110 took its name from the original selling price. Very strong, very accurate rifles.
These were made for the US and Great Britain in 1917 and 1918, but there was no "target model" just standard infantry rifles. The action is popular as the basis for many custom rifles. Check for any markings that may identify the gunsmith who converted your gun.
they weren't Winchesters. They were Henry rifles.
i just bought the same model at the big 5 with scope for about 425.00 good price synthitic thou it has a clip!?
worth 243 savage boltaction
Not Crescent- Savage made them for Gambles Store under their Pioneer trade name. Have a couple of them. Basic, but nice little rifles.
Price.
Depending on condition, $40-$90. The Savage .22s are decent rifles, but were low cost utility grade rifles. Store brands (Pioneer was used by Gambles Store as their house brand) generally command a lower price than the original (Savage) brand. Sound, reliable hunting grade rifles, just not highly sought after.
These savage/Stevens model 72 crackshot rifles were made from 1972-1989.
They never made anything called a Pioneer...
the savage model 1895 was only chambered in 303 savage. All savage model 1899,and model 99 rifles were never chambered in 219 Zipper either.
The E model was an economy model made from 60-84
on eBay or amazon.com
Most rifles that were chambered in 303 Savage will be the early ,model 1899.These rifles can bring between 450-1,200 dollars, based on exsisting original finish remaining and a good bore.
