The first actual robot was created in 1961 by Joseph F. Engelberger. It was called the Ternstedt Die-caster and basically dropped car parts made from molten steel into a cooling liquid. The word "robot" is first credited to the acclaimed Czech playwright Karel Capek (1890-1938), from the Czech word for forced labor or serf, in his writings in 1920. However, the concept of "mechanical men" has been around since the mid 1800s. The word "robotics" was first used in Runaround, a short story published in 1942, by Isaac Asimov (born Jan. 2, 1920, died Apr. 6, 1992). I, Robot, a collection of several of these stories, was published in 1950.
The term Artificial Intelligence was first coined in 1956, at the Dartmouth conference, and since then Artificial Intelligence has expanded because of the theories and principles developed by its dedicated researchers.
Artificail Intelligence discovered in 1956, Artificial Intelligence was surrounded by much excitement since its inception. Here’s the historical timeline of how Artificial Intelligence evolved over the period of time.
1956 The term Artificial Intelligence is first coined by John McCarthy

The beginnings of modern AI can be traced to classical philosophers' attempts to describe human thinking as a symbolic system. But the field of AI wasn't formally founded until 1956, at a conference at Dartmouth College, in Hanover, New Hampshire, where the term "artificial intelligence" was coined.
MIT cognitive scientist Marvin Minsky and others who attended the conference were extremely optimistic about AI's future. "Within a generation [...] the problem of creating 'artificial intelligence' will substantially be solved," Minsky is quoted as saying in the book "AI: The Tumultuous Search for Artificial Intelligence" (Basic Books, 1994). But achieving an artificially intelligent being wasn't so simple. After several reports criticizing progress in AI, government funding and interest in the field dropped off – a period from 1974–80 that became known as the "AI winter." The field later revived in the 1980s when the British government started funding it again in part to compete with efforts by the Japanese.
Artificial intelligence cannot be discovered it can only be created. We have not yet created a true artificial intelligence.
