Since EVER. Its not Fair for us not to have the same rights as heterosexuals. There have been many Gay Rights movements throughout the last 100 years.

In the United States, the first modern organized gay rights movement began in 1969.

They have always been fighting, but once more and more people started to appreciate it, the bigger it got. It really got big in either 2004 or 2005 when Canada legalized same-sex marriage in all provinces.
