Chronology Of The History Of
Slavery: 1619-1789
1619
The other crucial event that would play a role in the development of America was the arrival of Africans to Jamestown. A Dutch slave trader exchanged his cargo of Africans for food in 1619. The Africans became indentured servants, similar in legal position to many poor Englishmen who traded several years labor in exchange for passage to America. The popular conception of a racial-based slave system did not develop until the 1680's. It started in the 1800sSlavery did not begin in the 1800's---slavery has been in existence sice the begining of time. Accounts in The Bible make reference to support this.Slavery did not begin in the South in the united states and it was not confined to blacks. The America's were founded from the northern part of the U.S and thus slavery began there and then as the U.S. grew it moved South as a means to support the agriculture located there that supported much of the U.S. and many parts of the world.
While slavery is a terriable plot to cast upon anyone remember that the Jews were also inslaved for thousands of years and look at them now. They have overcome this eposiode in their history and have taken advantage of all the opportunities that were given them and have worked to become what they are today They have not expected anyone to provide for and support them. They know that no-one is responsible for their future other than themselsves regardless of there past history, THEY HAVE OVERCOME!
Everyone seems to believe that the blackman is the the only race that has been in chains. this is simply not true. Whites, blacks and many other races have suffered this terriable bondage. Slavery is a part of U.S. history and I say history, it should not be used as a means to get something for nothing. The tactics that are being used by many today are simply exploting an event in history as a means to get out of being responsible for themselves. This means is not confined to blacks alone it is being employed by whites and is all spreading to imigriants causing population explosion in the U.S. In turn this creates an mathematical improbiblity within the tax base and has lead us to the econimic struggel that we are experiencing now.
