You should change a timing belt on a 2001 Honda van at about 100,000 km it's always a good thing to also change the water pump, because it is in the same place. You save on time and labour and they usually go at about the same time. The last thing you want is to do the timing belt and the water pump go's on you then your doing the same job twice.
Your best bet remove the top cover and inspect the belt for cracks or tears.
I hope that answers your question.
Honda recommends replacing the belt & water pump every 100,000 miles or 161,000 kilometers. Inspecting the belt is meaningless. It can look great and be ready to break. Warning: This is an interference engine and as such if the belt breaks you will serious internal engine damage. Do not neglect this maintenance.
