The heat for the interior of your car comes from the heated radiator coolant. When you are driving down the road the water pump circulates the heated engine coolant. If the engine slows and the water pump isn't real efficient you might get cooling in the heater. When you turn off the engine you aren't getting warm water pumped into the heater.
Please be more specific ... heater gives off heat, then cold air OR The heater fan runs for awhile then stops running
The #1 cause of cold air from the heater when the car is stopped, or the engine is idling, low engine coolant levels.
If it is broken. It could be a faulty temperature blend door actuator.
A car heater taps off engine heat. If you aren't driving, then the engine is cold and there's no heat for the car heater to use.
Low coolant. If the coolant is low then the heater core is not able to transfer heat in to the car.
If the car is setting in the sun.Heat builds up in the ducts. With my car, it was Heater matrix clogged with radiator sealant. The workshop cleaned it and it's start working fine!

Check inside the car undre the dash , check the heater core.
Low coolant and a clogged heater core are possibilities.

verry common problem its the heater tap stuck open, you can do a quick fix and bypass the heater, but than you wont hav a heater when its cold of find the tap and close it manually, so i recommend that you replace the heater tap
