Check to see if you are getting power to one side of the stop light switch
if so tie the two wires together and see if stop lights work If no power to one side of stop light switch - problem is in power supply circuit Check grounds on sockets Make sure bulbs are installed properly - double filamented smaller for stoplights larger for tailights
You may need to check your brake light switch. It is a small switch located on top of your brake peddle (up on the arm of the peddle). This switch allows the brake lights to come on whenever you push the peddle.
Check the brake light switch it's self, it should be on the brake peddle arm or bracket. The switch should show open when the peddle is neutral and should show closed when the peddle is pressed. If the switch shows nothing either way then it's hooped.
Possibly blown fuse or defective brake light switch.
AnswerCHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH UNDER DASH LOCATED JUST ABOVE BRAKE PEDAL.there is another switch next to arm on the brake peddle that slides up and down when you work the peddle . mine was loose
Your brake light switch is out of adjustment. Don't know what vehicle you have but most brake light switches are located on the brake peddle lever just above the brake peddle pad.
check the switch at the break peddle
Could be that the brake light peddle switch is stuck in the on position. It is located under the dash on drivers side on the upper top brake peddle arm. When the peddle is depressed it pushes a switch to enguage the brake lights, it's not a big switch about 2 inches square, if you push the brake peddle up and down while looking you should be able to see it. It has happened to me a couple of times. But be advised that may not be the only reason, but the most simple, and sometimes we overlook the simple answers only to find out that the simple was the problem. Good luck!
THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS NOT PUTTING OUT BATTERY WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. CHECK TO SEE IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON, THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHIFT IT OUT OF PARK. IF NO BRAKE LIGHTS, THEN IT WON'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THEN REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.
Check the brake light switch on the brake pedal
The brake lights and the tail lights are separate circuits. Check the brake light fuse, then check the brake light bulbs, then check the brake light switch.
fuse, bad turn siginal switch, bad bulbs, bad bulb socket, bad brake light switch mounted under the dash at the brake peddle.
It is not necessarily the fuse. It could be the switch on the brake that is not closing the circuit.
