yes,go to parts house look for tool to plug in to your cig.lighter it has the plug in for a 9volt batt.on it,this will keep enough power the e.c.m. so the program will not be lost. Actually you don't have to 'reset' it. It is very common for the battery terminals to be disconnected for various maintenance activities. That action is no different than replacing the battery. I actually replaced my battery in my 2000 GLS 2.0 two weeks ago. No problems. If you mean the head unit, the code is in your manual, just enter it in after your replace the battery.

Not true. The computer does not have to be reset. You can change it yourself. You may have to enter the radio code if it is a theft deterrent radio but you have to do nothing to the computer.
