When you drive your 1986 Jetta it over heats and stalls then wont start again til it cools down. the radiator and the thermostat have been replaced?

their is no thermostat in a 1998 vw jetta 2.0 , i know, i already went to the dealer.... There is a thermostat, the dealer is wrong. There is a housing at the end of the bottom radiator hose opposite the radiator. To access this, you must remove the power steering pump and its bracket. Then the housing, attached to the lower radiator hose is bolted to the lower part of the front of the engine, contains the thermostat. It is a 195 degree from the factory. A Duralast (pn 15379)that has a built-in bleeder, is a good one to pick up for about $15 at most parts houses.
