Is the fan functioning?
According to the Haynes manual, the thermostat is located by follwing the lower radiator hase from the radiator back to the engine. The housing for the thermostat is bolted on the side of the engine block facing the radiator.
Look for a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
I just had the thermostat housing replaced on my 99 Jetta VR6. It's on the right (driver's) side of the engine block. The battery and battery tray should be removed to get access to the thermostat.
I replaced mine the other day- it is under/behind the alternator.
Should be located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
How do I replace the thermostat in a 2004 1.8T jetta?
Replace thermostat on 2000 vw jetta
their is no thermostat in a 1998 vw jetta 2.0 , i know, i already went to the dealer.... There is a thermostat, the dealer is wrong. There is a housing at the end of the bottom radiator hose opposite the radiator. To access this, you must remove the power steering pump and its bracket. Then the housing, attached to the lower radiator hose is bolted to the lower part of the front of the engine, contains the thermostat. It is a 195 degree from the factory. A Duralast (pn 15379)that has a built-in bleeder, is a good one to pick up for about $15 at most parts houses.
Where is the radiator to put fluid for 2001 jetta?
my jetta keeps overheating so i replaced the thermostat hoping that was the problem but know there telling me it might be the water pump check it out maybe its that
It is at the lower end of the top radiator hose within the water outlet. I hope this helps you. Mark
In a 93 jetta it is located in the water pump.Just 2 bolts holding it in. Be carfull not to strip them when unsrewing them from the alum. housing. If your car's overheating gague or light is on yet a thermometor in the radiator indicats 180 deg's.It is the temperature sensor not your thermostat.
