I think your throttle cable is broken or some part of your mechanical linkage at either end of the cable. Virtually all cars have a solid throttle cable these days, all they do is pull one way or another so yours is probably broke or disconnected at either end.
You could have the 2.0 L - DOHC - 4 cylinder or a 2.5 L - DOHC - V6 engine

could be the coil pack but did u check the timing belt .does it spin real fast, belt could be broken thus no spark
auto or man? auto change trans filter and add new trans fluid I'd use lucis trans fluid. cable could be streached
Ignition switch may be defective.
you mount the mercury container in the hood so that when it tilts gravity pulls the mercury down a tube and connects a cathode with an anode.
Could be the switch or the resistor and or the fan itself , There was a recall on this but to late to get it now , All are easy fixes
