If you have a 2.2 4L ---
On the crankshaft gear the mark is a groove between the back or second row of the gear teeth or the inductor teeth, a tooth or two counter clockwise side of the key way. The crank mark is a pointer on the block at about 11:00 when looking at the front of the engine.
For the cam, on the block, it is a u shaped mark about 11:00 o'clock or so. Not to be confused with the round dot that is a few degrees before it, say 10:00 or so. The hole in the cam gear spoke lines up with the U shape mark. Hope that helps!
