You didn't say new or used. If money is a problem your best bet would be an auto salvage yard.
I highly recommend that you buy your crate engine from GM. Quality and cheap, are incompatible. You get what you pay for. With a GM crate engine, you will not be disappointed.
Spark plugs are a cheap and quick fix if one goes out. The cost to replace one on a 454 chevy engine however can differ depending in the spark plug brand.
check engine temperature sensor There cheap and if yours is weak or bad Computer tells engine wrong signal
We have a 2001...same deal. Switch is 65 and the plug is 72 dollars...Plastics throughout the car are cheap. Electrical is not well thought out. Great engine but No more chevy's for this family.
Cold engine it's the oil filter, get a high end filter with a pre lube valve. Hot engine cheap or wrong weight oil, or, bad oil pump.
What you're describing sounds a lot like a sticking thermostat. They're cheap, just replace the thermostat and gasket.
Find it by tracing the fuel line from the engine to the tank. It does require special tools available at the parts store and are cheap.
If it has a 3.1L engine, it'll be in the exhaust pipe just after the exhaust manifold. Rotate the engine forward, look down between the engine and firewall, it'll be pointing up at you, with a wire coming out the top. Cheap/easy to replace, will better your mpg's!
You can have cheap, or you can have horsepower. Pick one.
junk yard!!
This is possible But it is about the same difficulty as 1500 hp Helicopter Turbo shaft engine. (Saw One!) The engine bay is wide and deep enough but not long enough. So big modifications! Stay with the 4.3 is my advice. There is some cheap hot rod stuff available.
from what i have heard yes, but you will want to get them cleaned up and inspected. Cheap hp add on.
