If you are crafty, buying a 3/4" shower door roller from home depot and grinding it down to size will work. The steel nub that acts as the axle for the plastic roller is riveted on, and will need to be ground down and removed to allow installation of the modified roller. You can also buy replacements on ebay for around $10 each, which are the right diameter, but still involve the removal of the riveted steel nubs of the original roller prior to installation. Jeep cherokees do not use the same system for their windows as the grand cherokee, so no scavenging parts there....I checked.
you will have to replace the window regulator.
yes
The only differences are between a regular Cherokee and a Grand Cherokee.
The bracket snaps on the window over the plastic pin in the window. You need to pull the bracket away from the window to get it down and over the plastic pin. If you will be replacing the window regulator you can just cut the bracket where it snaps over the pin.
If it's on a 99-04 Grand Cherokee you can't. You would need to buy a new window regulator.
take it to an auto glass shop, it is not that expensive
They are inside the doors, and are available from most part stores.
yeah it will just make sure u install it right
Look on eBay for the repair kit 3 small plastic parts that will repair the window moter for about 6.00 and if you need a regulator they are there to for 20.00 to 45.00
Remove the door panel. Remove the bolt that fastens the regulator to the window. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the regulator assembly to the door. Squeeze the entire assembly through the largest hole and replace with a new assembly in reverse order.
Most likely it is the regulator, either the cable is broken or the plastic at the top broke and the cable became unspooled and wrapped around itself. The window is held in by two screws that tighten a clamp on the window that holds pretty tight so it is doubtful it is that.
The regulator is the part that raises the window. Can be a notched curved piece and a X shaped arm that raises the window or a plastic strip that runs in a grove. The motor can be changed. I belive regulator and the motor are both held in by rivots. These can be drilled out and replaced with bolts.
