Christopher Columbus wanted to go to India for riches and supplies. He asked King Ferdidnan and Queen Isabella if he could make his voyage to India because he thought the Earth was round. They agreed and supplied him with his goods. The People of Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe didn't know about the Americas so when he discovered them he thiought he was in India because the Native Americans had darker skin like Indian people and that is why he called them Indians.
He was trying to find a quick route to the Pacific East. Easter Asia would be a nice answer.
The first answer is true..... but not all.

Amerigo Vespucci planned to go to the same places that Columbus had gone. He wanted to see for himself what Columbus had experienced, but he missed the West Indies altogether. One his first voyage he was not the captain of the ship.
The Native Americans. But if you don't want to go that far back... Spain
