Magellanâ??s final destination was supposed to be to the Maluku Islands, also known as the Spice Islands of Indonesia. Unfortunately, he was killed in the Philippines during the battle that resulted from his desire to convert natives to Christianity.

∙ 14y agoFerdinand Magellan was originally trying to find an easy sea route to India, sort of like Christopher Columbus, then he was going to sail back around Africa to Europe. There was only one problem: he never reached India, since he died in the Philippines.
