During the late Cretaceous, when T-rex lived, North America was split in two by the Western Interior Seaway. Fossils of Tyrannosaurus rex have been found in what was the western half of North America, and their fossils have been found in states like South Dakota, Colorado, and Montana, as well as possible footprints in New Mexico.
