Make sure the bike is completely upright. Once you have drained the old primary fluid and cleaned off the magnetic plug, re-insert the plug. Pop off the derby cover and add the new primary fluid through this hole. It's tough to do without a funnel due to the angle but I've been able to do it before.

Older Ironhead Sportsters have an inspection plug on the primary. have someone hold the bike straight up, you will get a false level on the kickstand. It uses 20-50wt motor oil OR HD primary oil. There's also a chain inside that primary that has to be adjusted regularly. Get a factory service manual.
