If you open the hood and stand in front of the engine, the power steering unit is located behind the radiator on to your left. Look at when the belts are and you will see a silver cap about 2" in diameter. Unscrew the cap and there is a dipstick on it indicating how high to fill the reservior. Use Dextron 3 automatic Transmission Fluid, there is no need to buy special Power Steering fluid. VBdenny
Plain old power steering fluid.
Dexron automatic transmission fluid or power steering fluid that you buy from the parts house.
Drivers side under AC compressor
To check the power steering fluid on your 1991 Caprice remove the cap on the power steering pump fluid reservoir and check the level on the fluid level indicator. If the fluid is warm(about 170 degrees)the fluid level should be at the "Full Hot" mark. If the fluid is cool(about 70 degrees) the fluid level should be at the "Full Cold" mark.Always use the correct power steering fluid to avoid damage to the hoses and seals which will result in fluid leaks. It should be noted that the reservoir (pardon my spelling) is located under the alternator (On my '91 with the 305, that is) - So you can't do it while the car is running.....Kenny
dextron
well on my 86 it is located on the pump its self driverside down twords the bottom below the AC compresser if you got AC
At the power steering reservoir, the same place you check the level.
If the pump is full, then it is either the belt is not tight enough or the pump itself has bad bearings in it. Russell
Dextron-II jr
Classic sign of low steering fluid.
where the power steering fluid reservoir located on 98' infiniti j30????????? thank you nick
dexron III or mercon V tranny fluids or any universal power steering fluid or any liquid including urine will work fine. being that this is a 79 im assuming this rust bucket is puking fluids all over the place, a bottle of lucas power steering fix might be in your best interest
