Most pumps and automatics have the serial number on the bottom of the receiver - just forward of the carrier. Over/Unders and the BSS have the serial hidden underneath the action lever. Push the lever to the side to break open the action and you will see the serial number.
If it was manufactured before 1969 it probably doesn't have one and if manufactured later, it should be plainly marked on the reciever.
