I replaced my 1995 S10 2.2 engine with a 2.2 cavalier engine and it worked fine.

google is a friend ...he'll be able to give you a full engine layout with a drawing and more

User Avatar

Is it possible? Sure. But it's going to require a whole lot more than a simple drop-in swap. For one, the Cavalier is a front engine, front wheel drive car with a transverse engine, whereas the 2010 Corvette had an FMR layout with a longitudinal engine and a transaxle... you're not going to fit the Corvette engine into the Cavalier in a transverse layout, and you would have to lengthen the frame, hood, and engine compartment to get it to work in a longitudinal layout. Then you'd have to swap the transmission, as the Corvette engine would wreck the Cavalier transmission, you'd probably have to put a live axle in the rear of the Cavalier, and make it a rear wheel drive car... Let's face it, this isn't going to happen.

The oil sending unit on a 1995 Cavalier is on the passenger side of the engine. It is close to the oil filter, screwed into the block.

if it is the same size engine all parts should fit.cavaliers from 1995 through 2004 are the same

After repairing the cause of the code, you can clear it with a scan tool.

User Avatar

i don't see why not the 2.2 was used in 95 and 96 should fit right in

User Avatar

the engine in a cavalier has been the same thing for all years since the late 80's. i accually just used a head from an 89 cavalier on a 95, so yes the engine should bolt right in. besides the obvious body difference in the two years, the engines are exactly the same.

If it is a 2.4 liter engine with dohc it does not have a dip stick... it is a sealed transmission.

User Avatar

Yes! 1995-1999 yes it will fit but if you live in states that require inspections it will not pass because of the crank shaft sensor will not be picked up. been there done that!
