Filter housing wrenches are available in auto parts supply stores. The two best types are both variable size- to easily fit a few different filters. One has metal strap, one rubber strap, but same principle. I find the rubber strap more versatile. Both less than $8 usually.

Will a standard filter wrench fit a 2008 Toyota Highlander oil filter?

No. 2008 highlander has a aluminum filter housing you need to remove with a special type of filter wrench. I was able to tap mine loose without a wrench but it could be at 24n-m tight which is difficult to loosen.

How do you remove a stuck oil filter housing on 2005 S80?

The oil filter housing is plastic and is usually easy to remove with the correct cap wrench. If you use other means to loosen it, then damage may occur. I would have a spare housing handy.

Where is the oil filter located on a 2006 VW Jetta?

Remove the lower engine shroud(6 or so torx screws)...the oil filter is enclosed in a black plastic housing which has a small drain plug which can be used to empty the filter housing before loosening. The filters are dealer items only and come with a new rubber gasket for the housing. Be sure to remove the old one before installing the new. The filter is just a fiber cartrige that is inserted in the plastic housing. Find a good wrench and don't break anything! I've found the filter cartridges at most auto parts stores. Autozone has a "B" style filter wrench that fits the housing perfectly. ($5.99)

What to do if the whole oil cartridge filter housing turn when removing the cup on Saturn lw2 2000?

there is generally a bolt and nut holding the housing to chassis,so the hold down bolt or nut is loose. to remedy depending on space, hold housing with channel lock pliers or another filter wrench in place and remove oil filter. make sure you drain oil from engine first. the point is to hold the mount still by whatever means even blocking it with wood wedge and then remover filter with wrench..if filter is too tight (most cases) punch a screwdriver through filter and your done.

How do you change oil on a 2007 Toyota Avalon?

Here is how you would change the oil on a 2007 Avalon: 1) Place the car in park while it is on driving ramps and set the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool if the car has been driven more than a few miles in the last hour. Place a drain pan under the oil filter housing located near the front of the oil pan. Remove the filter housing lid with a 3/8-inch socket wrench in a counterclockwise direction and set it aside. 2) Push a 12-inch section of an old garden hose onto the long end of the plastic hose adapter that came with your new oil filter. Push the other end of the adapter onto the fitting exposed after the filter housing lid was removed. Make sure the fitting snaps into place. Place the other end of the garden hose into the drain pan and allow the oil in the filter housing to drain completely. Remove the adapter by twisting it out of the filter housing fitting. 3) Remove the filter housing with a filter wrench attached to a 3/8-inch socket wrench turned in a counterclockwise direction. Lower the filter housing. Pull the old paper filter element out of the housing. 4) Clean the filter housing with a rag and insert the new filter element into the housing until it seats into position. Remove the O-ring seals on the filter housing with your fingers and place the new O-rings that came with your filter back into their place. 5) Insert the filter housing back into the cavity at the front of the engine oil pan and tighten it with a filter wrench in a clockwise direction. Replace the filter housing lid by tightening it into place with a 3/8-inch socket wrench turned in a clockwise direction. 6) Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap. Add the type of oil recommended in your owner's manual until the full mark is reached on the engine oil dipstick. Close the hood. Start the engine and back your Avalon off of the car ramps.
