as far as I know, all linen is from the flax plant, which is an annual. The fiber comes from the stems. Of course there is a process of treating the fiber and spinning it. Linen is very old-- it is mentioned in Bible.
Poly linen is the mix of polyester and linen.
The fibers used to make linen come from the flax plant which grows best in cool humid climates. This plant is not grown in the United States, therefore any linen products used in this country is imported.
