I grew up in Virginia so I know that a lot of oak trees grow in the south. Their seed is the acorn, and we used to have lots of acorns in our yard. I think oak trees may also grow in the north. There aren't many trees from the central United States all the way to the west coast (except for shelter belts) until you get to the Pacific Ocean. The trees there are mostly redwoods, sequoias, and pine, spruce, or fur trees. I was checking a book here at my house and read that you could find different varieties of oak trees pretty much everywhere in the United States except the southwest, but I know from experience that there are lots of oak trees in the South. The book listed White Oak in the northeast, Live Oak in the southeast, Bur Oak in the prairie states, and California Live Oak for the Pacific coast.
director: this is by time for ks here and oak trees achingly grow mostly south and north

Colkid: Nebraska has Oak at least in the eastern part of the state. There are many trees in the mountains of Colorado and California. I lived in California for 12 years. We had a Magnolia and a Palm tree in the front yard. Anything will grow in the lower elevations of coastal and inland, but not desert of California.
I believe oak will grow just about anywhere but desert and high altitude.
