take the 2 hoses off to the heater core and get a hose and flush out the core through both hose fittings on the firewall.
i changed heater core in a 1995 Oldsmobile achive you have take your dash under neath just about the centercloser to the right also you have jack up your car theres two hose you have to take off its har get them off and on its alot of work it takes time to do it right a 1989 grand am heater core will fit it as long as it has a 3.1 Fred zeestraten
On a 1989 Chevy Celebrity the heater hose leaves the water pump via a hose barb then runs along the top of the passenger side frame rail and then into the heater core. The heater core is in the firewall below the blower fan on the passenger side of the car. The return hose leaves the heater core and runs along the firewall then to the water outlet below the thermostat.
Sounds like part of a heater hose. Sounds like part of a formed heater hose.
In the engine bay, remove the inlet and outlet hose from the firewall for the heater core, get a heater hose connector that matches the hose sizes (fair warning they are 2 different sizes but i cant remember) and just join the 2 hoses together with the connector and some clamps. you wont have heat or defrost by doing this though.
Its too old and you'd most likely have to take it to a mechanic to have them drain the old freon, which is illegal to drain yourself due to bad fumes for the atmosphere and they'll replace it with I believe RA12 or something of the sort. If the pump/hose is bad they'll have to replace that too to ensure no problems with the new freon. I'm actually about to do it on my '87 Calais here very soon.
if the engine is the Tech 4 four cylinder engine, look for the radiator cap thats between the front of the engine and the radiator. just follow the upper radiator hose.
if it has one it is in heater hose at firewall if it has one it is in heater hose at firewall
You know the heater hose on a vehicle needs replacing when it beings to swell and soften. The heater hose runs from the intake manifold to the heater core.
The 1997 VW heater hose has swivel nuts on each end of the hose. Turn the swivel nuts to the left to remove the heater hose.
