I do not think so. I presume your light will not go out. The only airbag sensor is located in the airbag module (controller). Every other airbag connection is monitored for sort or open circuits My theory is the tester sat in the drivers seat during the test and twisted round in such a way to make the seat sensor or its wiring fail. You could check for an loose connector under the drivers seat. However to extinguish the light the faults will have to be cleared by an airbag scan tool.
The 1997 Oldsmobile airbag module sensor can be found below the dashboard on the drivers side. The airbag module should be labeled as such.
Drivers side air bag circuit low resistance or shorted
Don't know whether it's the same issue or not, but I've got a 1999 Sonata and there was a factory recall for the airbag sensor. The defective sensor was causing the "airbag" light to stay lit constantly. I was told to take the car to the nearest dealer and they would replace the sensor with a good one although I never did.
you dont have an airbag
use a scan tool and reset the light waalaa But, if the reason the light came on is not fixed the light will only come back on.
The airbag computer will command the airbag warning light to stay on when it detects a malfunction. You need to have the code read with a scan tool to know what the possible causes could be.The airbag computer will command the airbag warning light to stay on when it detects a malfunction. You would have to take it to a Ford dealership so they could diagnose why the airbag light is on. It is not something that you would want to do yourself.
You will need to take your vehicle to the dealership to reset the airbag light on an Ibiza. However, you could try to disconnect the battery, sometimes that will reset it.
How to reset airbag light
The air bag light will go on if the car senses a problem in the system. If your light is on there is a problem somewhere and if you leave it go, the airbag could deploy. Not only could it cause an accident, you could be in the $800 - $1000 range to replace the airbag if it goes off.. This is something that you should take to either the dealer or a qualified mechanic.
i have a megane scenic 2004 and just discovered that i can switch off passenger airbag by a switch in the dash , which you would see when opening the drivers door. Sorry don not know about service light.
