One cable should go to the frame, and the other to the engine.
Bad battery cable connection or dead battery
Could be on the inner fender - follow the + battery cable
Do any of your lights work ? or if the key is in the ignition and the drivers door is open do you hear the warning chime ? If not , it sounds like a bad battery cable connection or a dead battery

Pull off the battery cables and replace
Does your underhood light come on ? or if the key is in the ignition with the drivers door open , do you hear the door chime ? If not , it sounds like a bad battery cable connection or a dead battery

Voltage regulator is defective. Have it replaced or this will ruin your battery.
Check the volts right from the battery, might be a faulty alt.
if it has the stock terminals, you need a 1/2" wrench. disconnect the terminals, starting with the negative (black). then, disconnect the red (positive). use a 10mm socket to remove the bracket that holds the battery down, and pull the battery out. put new battery in, put positive terminal on first, then negative, then put on bracket.
If your car has a distributor it is the negative on the coil.
