The owners manual shows Motorcraft Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid for the 5 speed manual transaxle
the manual trans fluid runs from the brake fluid i had a 1990 Honda ef hatch an i had to fill the brake fluid an it shifted koo after that. Brake fluid operates the clutch. Do not put brake fluid into the standard transmission.
Synchromesh transmisssion fuild is what is recomened. Do not use Atf in those trans!
Pennzoil makes a great product called synchromesh but any GL3 or GL4 fluid will work Pro's like Redline MTL
i would have it serviced with a manual trans. it isn't as easy as just adding fluid
The manual that came with my 1990 Acura Integra GS indicates to use Dexron II. If you change the fluid only it's 3.2 qts. I hope this answers your question.
GM syncromesh or royal purple sycromesh. works in the transfer case as well. I own a 92 manual and it chattered with other fluid. Syncromesh stop the chattering.
According to my Alldata system maintenance charts, the 85 Corvette OD manual trans uses Dexron IIE automatic trans fluid. HTH
Basically.................price!!! It's safe to use Trans Fluid for Power Steering Fluid, they are both hydraulic oil/fluids.........but make sure to check your owners manual.
A 5 speed (Mazda built) Manual transmission requires Mercon or Dextron II automatic trans fluid. A 4 speed requires 80w-90 gear lube.
