Greece is a country in SE Europe, between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, arms of the Mediterranean Sea. It is east of Italy across the Ionian Sea, and west of Turkey. The northern borders of Greece are with Albania, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Bulgaria. The country includes the mainland, the Peloponnesian peninsula, numerous islands in the Aegean, and the island of Crete farther south in the Mediterranean Sea.

Greece is located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa. It is bordered on the east by the Agean Sea, on the west by the Ionian sea and to the south, the Mediterranean Sea.

It shares borders with Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Turkey.


Greece is actually called the Hellenic Republic and it is made up of different regions, Macedonia, central Greece, Thessaly, Epirus, the Aegean and Ionian islands, Thrace and Crete.
