It's screwed into the outlet side of the main fuel pump. Not the pre pump in the tank. The one under the car bolted up next to the filter. The lines and fittings will be rusty and will probably break.Spraying with a penatrating oil like PB Blaster and using an impact gun will help. Be prepared to make extra trips to the parts store.
Locate fuel pump underneath vehicle right in front of left rear wheel, you will see the fuel filter connected in line with it. On the front part of the fuel pump you will see a brass valve connected to it. That is the fuel pump check valve. Make sure you clean the area around the fuel pump and pump filter thoroughly before disconnecting. My question to you would be how did you know it was bad?
Intank fuel pump and/or airflow meter also break system check valve.
Bad accelerator Pump? Bad float? Wrong, fuel pump check valve. new fuel pump is on order, or add a check valve.
Fuel pump check valve is on the pump in the tank. vacuum check valve is in the line going through the firewall.
Right in front of the pump, looks like integral part of the pump, made of brass. Be careful not to brake short high preassure line connector to the fuel filter. Fairly expensive and easy to brake.
The flow back check valve is in the pump.
With a fuel pressure gauge connected to the Schrader valve on the fuel rail.

Not sure what is wrong with your car but if your fuel pump is not working check your fuse for your fuel pump. check your fuel pump relay on your firewall. low or no fuel presser change your filter.
The fuel pump has a check valve that holds the fuel pressure. The sending unit monitors the fuel level in the fuel tank.
