The Island in the History Channel show "Apocalypse Island" is Robinson Crusoe Island, Chile. It is not "in the middle of the Pacific Ocean" as the show states, it is in the far southeast corner of the Pacific. It is not unknown, uninhabited or inaccessible, as the show states. There is a town, San Juan Bautista, with about 550 people and regular ferry service to Valparaiso. There is an airport with charter service from Santiago, Chile. There are tourist trails and campgrounds all over the island including one in Villagra Valley right by the rock formations that Jim Turner claims are Mayan "monuments". Note that Erik Salz, who accompanied him, says he saw no evidence of human working of these rocks or any ancient human presence in the area.
