The 4.6 liter V8 has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils

i know if you have the 5.4L V8 you will have coil packs. not spark plugs

Its on the upper right hand side of the motor right above the coil

The plugs and coil packs are located on top of the engine. If you look at the fuel rails ( they are silver in color ) which will be on both sides of the throttle body the small coil packs are located under them. Use caution when R&R the plugs and packs not to break the clips holding them and damage the fuel rails.
