The engine cylinder locations are numbered :

Your 2001 Ford Expedition has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system so there are ( 8 ) individual coils
if you take off your engine cover, there should be either 3 or 4 spark plugs coming out of the top of your engine. coil b should be located on the 2nd to the left spark plug.
The ignition failure sensor in an 01 Stratus RT is located above the condenser. It is near the ignition coil. ?æ
AnswerEach Cylinder has its own coil pack, located above and attached to spark plugs. Remove engine cover to access front three. intake manifold has to be removed to access rear three.===========================================================On a 2001 Ford Escape , 3.0 liter V6 engine :firewall1-----2-----34-----5-----6front of vehicle > driverSo I ASSUME it would be :firewallA-----B-----CD-----E-----Ffront
Bad ignition coil
FITS ON 01, 02, 03, 04 escape models
Yes, because this was the same body style Escape. The '01 Escapes and the '05 Escapes were the same body style.
I was looking at one of the Ford websites and it shows that for a 2001 Mercury Sable 24 valve ( the " Duratec " ) and for the 12 valve ( the " Vulcan " ) they both use ( 1 ) coil pack that has six towers on it ( both engines use the Motorcraft DG-485 ignition coil pack )
Try checking the ignition coil #2. Also check the spark plug and its wire.
I Have A 01 Escape And The Drain Plug Is At The Back Of The Oil Pan.. Hope That Helps...

I've had this problem on my 01 Escape and had to have the front brake hose replaced. According to the mechanic, Ford has had a lot of problems with these hoses. I'm replacing the rear hose tomorrow.
