Mounted on the front of the engine block. Follow the fuel lines backward from the carburetor and you will find the pump.
I use a Mistubishi electric fuel pump and it works good.
88 Sahara should have the 258 I-6 motor. The fuel pump is mechanical & on the passenger side of the motor. Good luck....
if it is a 258 six cylinder go to passenger side of motor and it should be bolted to the side of the engine block just below the distributor follow the fuel line to the carburetor to make sure [Actually, I have an 84 with a 258 and mine is located to the right of my distributor... my oil filter is below my distributor; but, as was said above, go to your carb. and follow the fuel line when in doubt.]

If you can get it to start with starting fluid, then you're getting spark and air. Check your carb to make sure that the jets are working correctly and you're getting fuel. Is your fuel pump intank or on the side of the block? If you haven't replaced the fuel line from the pump to the carb, I'd suggest you do so.
The spark plug gap for a 1984 258 6 cylinder Jeep should be set at .033 inches. New spark plugs will be preset and should not need adjustments.

4 to 6 p.s.i on carbs, 35 to 42 on e.f.i.
258% of 100 = 258% * 100 = 2.58 * 100 = 258
Possible.Possible.
258% is 258/100 (so a value of 258% is a multiplication by 2.58)
