Hello, On my '97 3.9L, it is that round metal piece that is mounted in the driver's side valve cover towards the back. Im pretty sure that the '96 is the same.

The valve is in the oil filler tube. Remove the air hose from the air box to the intake. Take off the breather hose and the air box. Now you should be able to remove the PCV valve hose and the valve itself.
