Where is the ac recharge valve for a 2003 ford focus with a zetec engine?
The AC recharge valve for a 2003 Ford Focus with a Zetec engine is near the firewall. It is the larger of the two lines going to the compressor.
The Focus Zetec (16 valve DOHC) engine, according to the Ford, makes 130 bhp and 130ft/lb of torque. The SPI (8 valve SOHC) engine makes 110 bhpand 125 ft/lb of torque. These are crankshaft measurements meaning the amount of power that actually makes it to the wheels will be a bit less due to friction and such in the drivetrain.
It is not in the valve cover, as on other Focus engines. It is on the side of the engine, under the intake manifold, plugged into the "oil separator". It is possible to reach it from underneath, albeit blindly, if you have the car on a rack. The service manual suggests removing the intake manifold to get to it. The difficulty in reaching it may have something to do with the service schedule for replacement…
