the air filter on a 1988 camaro sports coupe with the 2.8l V6 multi port fuel injection engine is located in the air cleaner at the front of your engine compartment. there is a v or A shaped cleaner assembly that you turn 3 wing nuts on each arm and you remove it there you will find 2 square are filters.
