The blower motor is located on the passenger side, under the hood, against the fire wall. It is protected by a rubber cover that you need to cut out. Look close it says CUT HERE FOR SERVICE.

How do you replace the heater blower motor resistor on a 1998 gmc serria 1500 p/u

User Avatar

Depends on what you mean by heater will not work. If the blower motor will not work, it can be a blown fuse, bad blower motor, bad blower motor switch, or a defective blower motor resistor pack. If you mean that the blower motor works but there is no heat, then it can be a clogged heater core, thermostat stuck open, or defective heater control valve.

A diagram of the heater core of a 2001 GMC Jimmy can be found in the service manual. It outlines the location of all the components and how they are connected.

Under the hood , in the main fuse box. It should be a relay in the main fuse box , that is located under the hood.

Better check your title. Jeep doesn't make the"Jimmy". Jimmy is made by GMC, The blower control module on a GMC Jimmy is located in the heater unit which is a plastic housing located on the left (passenger) side of the firewall. However, Jimmys are noted for bad connections on the module plug , the motor plug, & some have another plug that goes bad regularly to the rear of the left fender well. You would be wise to check those connections before buying parts. Good luck.
