You know the vents in the front of your windshield. They draw air into the cabin of your car. The cabin air filter blocks dust smoke and junk from entering the cabin and the air conditioning unit. The filter keep your air clean. The filter is usually behind the glove box. When you buy a new cabin filter all the instructions on how to change it are included with the filter. Check the BOX before you buy it. On most Toyota it very easy.

Replacing the cabin air filter is actually quite simple. Open the hood and remove the rubber seal that is just in front of the windshield. The access to the cabin air filter is in the center, just lift the door and remove the filter. Be careful, since it's quite easy to break the plastic access door.
it should be under the passanger side front dash behind the clove box
