Crankcase is a generic term for the parts of the engine enclosing the crankshaft; usually the lower-half of the engine's block and the oilpan. It is more at describing an area of the engine rather than an actual part. As such, it does nothing on its own but keeps oil in and dirt out. When you look up at the bottom of the Storm engine, that's the crankcase.
There is a retaining ring just on the inside of the handle. Once you get that off the crank will come off.
Check the ignition circuit in the Storm. Start by checking the crank position sensor, then the coil pack to find the lack of spark.

You can't. They have a distributor pack, and not a cap and rotor. a 1.6 eng 93 geo storm has a distributor cap and rotor!!!
