OK ...AFTER A LONG OVERVIEW OF BOTH MY MANUALS...I DO NOT SEE A ..."POISTION" SENSOR LISTED......HOWEVER I DO SEE A CRANK ANGLE SENSOR..I BELIEVE THATS WHAT YOU ARE MEANING..IT IS INCORPORATED INTO THE DISTRIBUTOR SYSTEM...YOU CAN LOCATE IT UNDER THE ROTOR IN SIDE THE DISTRIBUTOR ITSELF......ALL THE BEST ..........BUDDY MACK.......THANKS FOR INCLUDING ENGINE INFO AND YEAR...
the cam sensor is locate at the front of the engine.

On a 2005 Nissan Maxima where is the Camshaft Position Sensor (Bank 1) located?
Its on the passenger side of engine around the timing area... 10mm bolt... and a clip connector
It has a crank reference sensor by the crank pulley that adjusts timing and a #1 position sensor were trans and engine meet on left side of engine that starts spark sequence.

On the left hand side of the engine is the thermostat housing. The camshaft position sensor is located directly above the thermostat housing on the end of the cylinder head.
