I have a 96 ranger with the 3L V-6, and if they used the same configuration, the EGR system is on top of the engine above the drivers side head covers. dont know if it helped ya, but it's what i know...

I was looking on fordparts.com at the 2004 Ford Ranger with the 3.0 liter V6 engine and it doesn't list an EGR valve for the 3.0 liter like it does for the 4.0 or 2.3 liter
