I just replaced my IAC valve on our 2004 Tribute 6-cylinder. It takes about 5 minutes. It's the small silver device setting on the very top right center of the motor with 2 bolts holding it on. Follow your air filter plastic hose where it goes into your motor. Look on top and you will see the IAC.
My 12 year old grandson could have did this job. Very simple....
I have a Mazda 2001 Tribute and I just replaced the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). I searched for Idle Speed Control actuator and there does not appear to be one. The IAC is the silver module right on top of the manifold.
The idle air control valve is located next to the throttle body. It is connected to the air cleaner hose on the top of the engine.

If you have the 3.0L the pcv valve is located under the fuel rail under the intake manifold. You cannot remove with finger power...The valve turns out counter clockwise with some force.
The idle air control valve is also known as the idle speed valve. On a 1999 1.6 literÊMazda Protege, it is located at next to the throttle body.Ê
