how much to insall a ignition to a pontiac grand am se 1999?
Not sure what the symptoms are, but I am guessing you are referring to the anti-theft module. It is located in the ignition cylinder lock. It is common for this to go bad in the Grand Am and other GM products. Not sure what the symptoms are, but I am guessing you are referring to the anti-theft module. Sounds like a 2.3 quad 4 motor. There is a "panel" on the top of the motor, called a housing cover. It has the ignition module and ignition coils under it. Below them are boots (replace them) and the plugs.
Depends on the motor, 4cyl or V6, but it could be the ignition module, or the crank sensor

It's really easy the switch is in the steering colume.
If it is 2,4 l twin cam than you have to take down metal cover on top of your engine (4 long bolts) lift it slowly and when you turn it upside down you will see ignition module with ignition coil attached to the cover. There is no spark plug wires but boots.
The ignition timing is controled by the PCM (computer), which is located below the master cylender inside the dash panel. There is no separate ignition module.
There is a recall on the blinker module. supposedly the solder joints crack with temperature changes and GM has issued a recall on certain models of Grand-am, Malibu... so check with your local GM dealer...

I got a friend whose key can't turn the ignition on her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. She can't get the steering wheel to unlock either.
There is no dis. cap. GM uses a ignition module and coil pack that sits on top of module. Quad 4 eng. is basicly the same, just a different configuration.
Module is located under coil packs at front of engine above starter motor.Label all plug wires, you may have to remove starter to get to it...
Replacing a steering column ignition switch on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix is not considered a major repair. The task is considered easy but if done wrong could be dangerous. It is best to refer to vehicle manual for the car to ensure proper direction is given.
