The most common problem is a corroded bulb socket.
I would say that Midas is the best place to go to. They will be able to install your brake lights with no problem. If you want to do it yourself, however you can go to Auto Zone and buy them.
If the brake lights stay on when the car is not running on most vehicles, including the 1994 Dodge Intrepid, there is probably a short somewhere in the wiring to the brake lights. The first place to investigate this problem would be the wires along the firewall that control the brake lights. Also, check the brake light switch above the brake pedal.
Start by checking the switch for the pedal on the steering column. It's a common place for a malfunction.
Sounds like a good place to start looking. Car alarm systems are known for causing electrical issues.
Have you first checked the fuse, that's the first place to look. The second place if the fuse is OK is the brake light switch and that;s on the brake pedal bracket, check the wires and just press the brake pedal and listen to see if you can hear it working, someone to look at the lights is helpful.
The screws that hold the rear lights in place on a focus are inside behind the rear pillar trim
All brake light switches are mounted directly behind the brake pedal on a bracket that holds it in place with a electrical push pin that moves in and out when the pedal is depressed. If you have no brake lights but, your tail lights work with your headlight switch on for parking lights the brake light switch needs to be either adjusted and if after this if this does not correct the issue, replace the brake light switch. Most auto zone, advance auto parts, napa will carry this part and very easy to replace.Too easy.Note make sure the bulbs are known to be good in the tail lights by looking at the elements inside and not fried (wire is not solid from left to right side in the bulb) If only one side is not working it would be the bulb, however if both are not the info above answers that.
On most newer vehicals you must have your foot on the brake in order to shift out of park. The brake light switch is most likely the problem since it operates your brake lights and allows the transmission to be shifted out of park. The switch is located on the brake pedal arm just above where you place your foot. They are generally fairly easy to replace.
I take it you mean day-time running lights? Place the parking brake on the first notch will turn them off and not apply the brake.
The brake lights on a 1998 Mercury Sable are changed by removing the retaining screws, pulling the light assembly away from the vehicle, and removing the bulb. A new bulb can then be installed and the assembly put back in place.
Well, from what i understand of your question i think you are askign how to change front brake lights and corner lights. These are headlights and corner lights, brake lights are located at the rear of the car. Pop the hoos, you should see the wiring that hooks up to the lights. Unscrew the plastic"shield" that protects the bulb and change the bulb place it back in and screw the light back into place. (i recommend checkign to make sure the light bulb works before putting it back in the whole light) Good Luck.
Go to dealership and buy a plastic piece that goes on the brake pedal to turn the switch on and off. This little plastic snaps into place. The insert breaks after years of use and can easily be replaced by holding the brake pedal down and push it into place.
